Dictators have “show trials” that end in favor of the dictators.

Witnesses are shunted aside who contradict the true purpose of the show trial. When time has passed, under other dictators, witnesses are dealt with.

Moscow Mitch’s Senate power has run up against the truth and is making an end run to say no facts could make out a charge of abuse or obstruction because this is only a “policy” difference. They won’t risk live witnesses or documents.

The Republicans are desperate to avoid the disclosures, now widely known, especially those by NSC John Bolton who sticks it to our Thief of State and who is in a position to repeat Trump’s admission that he held the funds from Ukraine to get an investigation into his likely presidential opponent.

It still appears unlikely that the Republican Senators will show virtue and abide by their oath.
